Neurology is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to your nervous system - your brain, spinal cord, and nerves throughout your body. These neurological conditions include everything from headaches and dizziness to more complex conditions like epilepsy, strokes, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. 

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes you to have repeated seizures. A seizure happens when there is a sudden burst of unusual electrical activity in your brain, which can cause uncontrollable body movements, unusual sensations, stiffness and loss or altered consciousness. Epilepsy affects people to different degrees, some may have mild seizures that are hard to notice, while others may have more intense experiences with uncontrollable jerking and loss of consciousness. 

A stroke is a life-threatening emergency, and getting immediate medical attention is critical to help prevent serious or permanent damage and improve recovery outcomes. Stroke Medicine is focused on the urgent treatment of people who have had a stroke, through diagnostic imaging and neurological tests to determine the type and severity of stroke before administering the most appropriate treatment.

Anatomic Pathology (histopathology) focuses on the studying of cells, tissues and organs to diagnose medical conditions. Pathologists examine patient tissue and cell samples to help identify conditions like infections, cancer or other abnormalities in the body.

Hematopathology supports doctors in diagnosing and understanding conditions affecting your blood by examining blood and bone marrow samples.  Hematopathology tests help diagnose conditions like anemia, leukemia, lymphoma, and other conditions that affect blood cells. 

Clinical Chemistry and Immunology involves a range of routine and specialized clinical blood and urine tests to check chemical compounds within your body.

Transfusion Medicine involves collecting, testing, and storing blood and blood products like red blood cells, platelets, and plasma, to make sure they’re safe to use. 

Endodontics is a dental specialty focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of issues related to the inside of your teeth, mainly the pulp and roots. These issues can range from tooth decay and tooth abscesses, as well as tooth injuries from trauma or wear and tear.

You can think of Prosthodontics as ‘smile restoration’. Our Prosthodontists specialize in restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth and oral structures. Prosthodontics procedures include dental crowns, bridges, cosmetic veneers, dental implants, removable dentures and occlusal splints to improve oral health, and help you gain back full functionality and confidence in your appearance.
