Organ Donation and Transplantation

Overview

At Dubai Health, we are proud to be an active member of the UAE’s national organ donation and transplantation program, Hayat, which is governed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). The UAE has achieved 382% growth over the past five years, becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing programs in organ donation.

We are committed to complementing national efforts in this vital program, staying true to our patient-first ethos. Our goal is to advance health outcomes for patients with organ failure and contribute meaningfully to this humane initiative.

Rashid Hospital represents this commitment as a leading organ donation facility in the UAE, with 100+ organ donors contributing to over 300 organ transplants, saving lives in the UAE and beyond.

Organ Donation

We understand the profound impact organ donation can have in extending and enhancing lives.  Therefore, our aim is to honor the generous decision of organ donation and facilitate the process with utmost care and sensitivity.

We invite you to join us in this life-saving mission. To learn more about organ donation and to register to be an organ donor, please visit the Hayat Program webpage on the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s official website.

  • Living Donation

Living donation involves individuals voluntarily donating a part of their organ, such as a kidney or a portion of the liver, to someone in need. At Dubai Health, we offer living-donation kidney transplantation services in our facilities. The donor surgery is typically performed at Dubai Hospital.

  • Deceased Donation

Deceased donation involves the donation of organs and tissues after a person has passed away. Individuals can register their wish to become donors through the Hayat Program. Because family consent is required before donation proceeds, we encourage everyone to share their decision with their loved ones.

Transplantation

Organ transplantation involves transferring an organ or tissue from a living or deceased donor into the patient’s body to replace a damaged or failing organ. At Dubai Health, we offer comprehensive transplantation services for various organs, including kidneys, and cornea. Our highly skilled medical teams utilize advanced surgical techniques and postoperative care to ensure the best outcomes for both donors and recipients.

  • Kidney Transplantation

At our facilities, we provide specialized kidney transplantation services for both adults and children. Adult kidney transplants are carried out at Dubai Hospital, while pediatric transplants are conducted at Al Jalila Children's Hospital. Since 2018, we have successfully performed 120 kidney transplants, thanks to our meticulously designed program that offers advanced medical care and comprehensive support tailored to the unique needs of each patient group
