Dubai Health organized a new edition of its Clinic of Hope initiative at Al Jalila Children's Hospital, providing essential healthcare services to 600 children from various nationalities.
The initiative forms part of Dubai Health's ongoing efforts to foster a culture of volunteerism and humanitarian giving by providing diagnostic and preventive healthcare services for children, improving access to care and supporting families. It also aligns with the UAE's Year of Family.
Since its launch in March 2024, the Clinic of Hope initiative has recorded a 130% increase in the number of beneficiaries compared to its first edition, bringing the total number of children supported to more than 2,100. This demonstrates the initiative's positive impact and its role in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of children.
The latest edition of the clinic delivered medical care across more than 15 specialties, including general pediatrics, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, ear, nose and throat (ENT), hematology and oncology, physiotherapy, nutrition, dentistry, orthopedic surgery, pediatric surgery, audiology, ophthalmology, and other specialties.
Al Jalila Foundation plays a vital role in enabling Dubai Health’s vision to advance health for humanity through the integration of Care, Learning, Discovery, and Giving. Through its A’awen program, which provides medical assistance to UAE-based patients through Dubai Health facilities, the Foundation covered the treatment costs of children requiring advanced medical interventions, ensuring they are able to continue their care journey.
The event was held in collaboration with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA), Emirates Red Crescent, and Emirates Literature Foundation. It also saw the participation of several private sector partners and more than 140 volunteers, including medical, nursing, and administrative teams, as well as students from the University of Sharjah, and Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, the heart of Dubai Health, which enables learning and discovery to advance health for humanity.
Enriching experiences
The initiative featured a range of interactive activities combining learning and entertainment, organized in collaboration with KHDA and Emirates Literature Foundation. Young authors led creative sessions, while UAE-based authors Ebtisam Al Beiti and Nadine Bakhous hosted storytelling sessions. The event also featured the theatrical performance “Fly Dragon Fly”, inspired by a story that carries uplifting messages of hope and positivity. The authors concluded the activities by gifting copies of their books to the children, bringing them comfort and joy throughout their stay at the hospital.
The Emirates Red Crescent distributed gifts to the children, while the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai's beloved cartoon characters, Salem and Salama, brought smiles to their faces in an atmosphere filled with fun and joy.
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Foundation, said: “This initiative reflects the values of giving and solidarity that define our community. Dr. Mohammed Al Awadhi, Executive Director of the Dubai Health Women and Children's Campus, said: “Clinic of Hope demonstrates how volunteerism and community partnerships can create a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families. We believe that ensuring every child receives the care they need is a shared responsibility, and that community solidarity is key to building a healthier future for children”.
He added: "The continued success of the initiative highlights the importance of sustaining this humanitarian model to reach even more beneficiaries, reflecting Dubai Health's Patient First commitment".
Brigadier Abdulsamad Hussein Al Blooshi, Assistant Director General of the Pioneering and Future Sector at the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, also affirmed that building a more cohesive society begins with institutional partnerships that place people at the heart of their work.
He noted that the "Clinic of Hope" initiative embodies this approach by bringing together government entities and national institutions to create a meaningful humanitarian impact that touches the lives of children and their families, while reflecting GDRFA Dubai’s mission to promote happiness, enhance quality of life, and reinforce the values of giving and social responsibility.
He added: "At GDRFA Dubai, we believe that our values extend beyond the delivery of services to embody the true meaning of happiness and positivity. Guided by this belief, our participation in the 'Clinic of Hope' initiative aimed to create a joyful experience for children through the distribution of Salem and Salama character plush toys, gifts, and ice cream. We believe that a smile is not merely a symbolic gesture, but a message of hope, and that reassurance and emotional support are an integral part of the healing journey. We also believe that partnerships that create genuine impact are those that leave a positive mark on people’s lives, contribute to building a more cohesive and compassionate society, and reflect Dubai’s vision of placing people at the heart of development."
Dr. Saeed Kharbash, CEO of Policies, Research and Programmes at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), said: “The Clinic of Hope initiative, organized by Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, is an inspiring example of community partnership that places children and their wellbeing at the heart of its efforts, while creating a supportive environment that brings hope to children and their families throughout their treatment journey.”
He added: “KHDA’s participation in this initiative reflects our commitment to advancing Dubai’s Early Childhood Care and Education Strategy by working closely with partners across the government and community sectors, listening to parents’ perspectives, and engaging them in shaping policies and initiatives that respond to the needs of children and their families.

Al Jalila Foundation has announced an AED 10 million Zakat donation from Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), reinforcing the Foundation’s efforts to ensure timely access to care while also accelerating learning and discovery programs.
The donation reflects DIB’s commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives that create lasting impact and elevate quality of life. The donation will further Al Jalila Foundation’s vital role in enabling Dubai Health’s vision to advance health for humanity through the integration of Care, Learning, Discovery, and Giving.
The donation was announced during a visit by Nawaf Al Rayssi, Head of Community Support Services at DIB, to Dubai Hospital, where he was received by Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, Dr. Omar Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of Dubai Hospital. The visit included the unveiling of a plaque bearing Dubai Islamic Bank’s logo on The Giving Wall at Dubai Hospital, in recognition of its support for Al Jalila Foundation’s programs and initiatives, and its commitment to advancing community health and well-being.
Nawaf Al Rayssi said: "DIB continues to play a vital role in supporting humanitarian and development-focused initiatives that enhance quality of life for various societal segments. In line with this commitment and social responsibility, DIB directs its Zakat Funds to eligible beneficiaries through initiatives that create meaningful and lasting outcomes. Our ongoing partnership with Al Jalila Foundation reflects that commitment, helping expand access to care, strengthen wellbeing, and support medical progress for those who need it most across the UAE."

Commitment to Making a Difference

Dubai Health has inaugurated the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital. Established through Al Jalila Foundation’s The Hope Fund, the unit was developed with the generous support of Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, whose name is inscribed on the hospital’s Giving Wall.
The inauguration was attended by His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU); Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, CEO Emeritus of Al Jalila Children’s Hospital; Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation; Dr. Tarek Fathey, Chief Clinical Officer, and Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, Executive Director of the Women and Children’s Campus.
The Pediatric Cardiology service at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital performs around 200 pediatric cardiac surgeries annually, in addition to more than 300 cardiac catheterizations procedures, reinforcing Dubai Health’s ability to deliver comprehensive, specialized care for various cardiac conditions.
The new unit reflects Dubai Health’s “Children First” commitment by advancing pediatric cardiac care. Aligned with a patient- and family-centered model, the unit also enables parents to remain close to their children, with comfortable beds provided beside each patient bed and a dedicated family area offering a welcoming space for relatives.
Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Saleh said: “Supporting children’s health is an investment in the wellbeing of future generations. We are honored to contribute to this unit, as community partnerships play an important role in expanding specialized services and ensuring patients receive the care they need. We hope this initiative will support Al Jalila Children’s Hospital in continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients and their families.”

Through the contributions of partners, the Fund enables sustainable impact that strengthens Dubai’s healthcare system and improves patient outcomes.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Health, honoured partners and donors supporting The Hope Fund projects, an initiative by Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health. Held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Health, the ceremony celebrated donors whose contributions enhanced medical treatment programmes and services at Dubai Hospital.
Contributions received under The Hope Fund have supported medical facility readiness and improved patient experiences while highlighting the UAE’s enduring humanitarian values and commitment to social responsibility.

Strategic partnerships
His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani said that Dubai Islamic Bank’s support for the Heart Care Pavilion at Dubai Hospital, delivered through a strategic partnership with Al Jalila Foundation, reflects the bank’s institutional commitment to social responsibility and long-term community value. Such partnerships provide an effective model for aligning national efforts and directing support towards priorities that strengthen specialised healthcare capacity while enhancing quality of life and community wellbeing. The Pavilion includes 29 rooms with a total capacity of 42 beds, providing integrated services in cardiology and cardiac surgery.
Her Excellency Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg said that the development of new departments and wards at Dubai Hospital reflects the power of giving and its capacity to foster a culture of social responsibility within the community. She noted that partnerships with individuals and institutional donors remain a key driver in enabling the healthcare system to evolve in line with international best practices and future demand.
Shared purpose
Her Excellency Dr. Amina Al Rostamani, Board Member of the AW Rostamani Group and Member of Al Jalila Foundation’s Board of Directors, said: “We believe that uniting efforts around a shared purpose can drive lasting impact in healthcare, reflecting Al Jalila Foundation’s mission to embed a spirit of giving that supports better health outcomes.”

Emirates Islamic contributed to the development of two inpatient care wards at the hospital. The first includes 16 rooms offering a capacity of 18 beds, while the second includes 30 rooms with a total of 38 beds, expanding capacity and supporting the quality of patient care.
Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors, said: “Our support for Al Jalila Foundation reflects our commitment to supporting the healthcare sector in the UAE and to elevating healthcare standards and serving patients in need. We are also proud that our contribution was made through the Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi Fund in honour of his legacy.”
The financial pledge included the renovation of the Kidney Care Pavilion, which features 15 single rooms and 13 shared rooms, with a total capacity of 41 beds, providing specialised services in nephrology and urology.
Dr. Omar Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of Dubai Hospital, stated that the support provided by partners and donors will directly contribute to advancing the hospital’s clinical care system by providing an integrated environment that supports patient safety and accelerates the treatment journey, improving health outcomes and elevating the patient experience across every stage of care.
