What is Hematology Oncology?
Hematologic (blood) cancers and blood-related conditions are different from other types of cancer as they are caused by mutations in the blood cells rather than forming tumors. Hematology Oncology is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of these conditions, including leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Expert treatment for blood cancers and blood-related conditions
At our Hematology Oncology department at Dubai Health, our hematologic oncologists bring extensive experience from renowned hospitals regionally and around the world, and specialize in diagnosing blood cancers and blood-related conditions, and determining the most effective treatment plans for them. Depending on the type of cancer, if the cancer is progressing or if it has spread, treatment plans can involve one or more therapies for maximum effectiveness. We work together with a multidisciplinary team with the aim of eradicating blood malignancies, reducing the possibility of a relapse, and getting back your quality of life as soon as possible.
We know that treatment for blood cancers and conditions can be gruelling, as they can last some time and there can be side effects - we are here to help you know what to expect, and to support you during your treatment period to help you maintain both your physical and emotional health, and help you on your path to recovery
